Shave and a Haircut Experiment with TK_Puppet Shaders
Here's something I've been working on for a long time. I worked on the shave aspect. Model by Jamin Lackie, texture and lighting by Leo Krajden. I wanted to try a different method this time, so TK_puppet shaders made by Ledin Pavel was used. It gives really great results and quick render times. The ones below rendered in 4-5 minutes; its really great. It's rendered with mental ray and must be comped with the other layer as raytracing cant be used. Another downside is that you have to use a lot of lights for the hair to look properly and catch light correctly. Other than that, AMAZING.

UFO over Santa Clarita goes viral
I was just told the other day that the project I worked on with other students for Gnomon Studios went viral. It was featured on wired magazine:

It was great seeing that students work could get recognized like that. Although the hands I modeled and textured was too underexposed to be seen in the shot, I suppose its still great to know that I was able to achieve such realism with texturing. Here are the hands:

Demo Reel Class - Project 4 Orc
I used this project for both my demo reel class as well as my shave and a haircut. Shave definitely was difficult, and hard to master. It was also hard to translate the loose drawing of the armor, but I tried my best to capture the dips and flow of the metal.

Demo Reel Class - Project 2
I wanted to try doing a bust of a character this time. This concept is by Sakimichan. I have a lot of changes I still need to make, but overall, I enjoyed doing this piece and the way it turned out. I guess my biggest challenge was to match the zbrush camera to the maya camera.
